MedAccess Chicago, a new CommunityHealth program that opened last year, is a licensed closed central fill pharmacy that receives bulk donations directly from pharmaceutical manufacturers to dispense to low income, uninsured patients at no charge.
General Position Description
Under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy Operations, the pharmacist is responsible for the training and supervision of staff and volunteer pharmacy technicians and volunteer pharmacists. In addition to filling patient prescriptions, the staff pharmacist is responsible for ensuring policies and protocols are followed. Additionally, the staff pharmacist will precept pharmacy students as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Fills patient prescriptions and answers provider questions
- Works with appropriate staff to ensure pharmacy is functioning at maximum capacity
- Assists Coordinator of Volunteer Services with volunteer training needs
- Provides supervision to designated staff and volunteers, including pharmacy students
- Provide education and counseling to patients as needed
- Participates in quality improvement programs
- Collaborates with Director of Pharmacy Operations and Associate Executive Director to support optimal organizational structure to meet strategic goals
Qualifications
- Must have current Illinois Pharmacist License
- Supervisory experience is a plus
- Strong leadership skills, team player
- Proven problem solving skills
- Ability to multitask
- Excellent computer skills; specifically QS1
- Spanish or Polish speaking is a plus
- Familiarity with challenges faced by low income and underserved populations a plus
- Flexible schedule; hours will include some evenings and Saturdays
