Chicago IL, September 20, 2007 -- CommunityHealth, Illinois’ largest free clinic and one of the largest free clinics in the United States, is holding its first-ever 5K Run/Walk in Humboldt Park on Sunday, September 30 to raise awareness of the prevalence of chronic illness among the uninsured and send a positive message about how to stay healthy and prevent disease. Proceeds from the event will help to support the free primary and specialty care CommunityHealth provides to low-income, uninsured individuals and families in Chicago and throughout the metropolitan area.  Sixty-five percent of patients at CommunityHealth are Latino; 8% are African American; and 10% are Polish immigrants.  Almost 50% have one or more chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension.
 
The 5K Run/Walk is presented by Aetna.. Official sponsors include AstraZeneca, Baxter, GlaxoSmithKline and LaSalle Bank, with support from Boehringer Ingelheim, Dominick’s, New Balance Chicago, Schering Plough and Step Up Women’s Network.  Entertainment and music are being provided by Radio Arte, 90.5 FM WRTE. The 5K Run/Walk, USTAF (United States Track & Field) certified, begins at 9 AM at the entrance to Humboldt Park at Humboldt Drive and North Avenue on Luis Munoz Marin Dr.
