Volunteer Handbook
Volunteers – we are please to present this Volunteer handbook which will serve as a guide to CommunityHealth volunteer policies and procedures. Because volunteers are the lifeblood of the health center, we want to ensure that your experience is both enjoyable and meaningful. Please read this handbook carefully and then complete the Receipt of Handbook verification.
Scheduling
Current volunteers can check their schedules and service history, sign-up for dates, update information and view announcements at our Volunteer site. LOG-IN NOW
Note: Only volunteers who have attended appropriate orientation sessions are permitted to use the scheduling system. If you are a current volunteer and are having trouble logging in, please contact Kelly Tondini, Manager of Clinic Resources and Volunteer Services, at 773.969.5923 or ktondini@communityhealth.org.
Training
Some volunteer positions require completion of a training program. Once you have completed volunteer orientation, you will be contacted by CommunityHealth staff for more information about training for your position.
There is one-time $25 fee for the following volunteer trainings:
- Triage
- Lab
- Pharmacy technician
- Diabetes educator
- Volunteer Interpreter
The purpose of this fee is to offset training program expenses–including training materials and administrative costs. Volunteers must pay fees prior to enrolling in a training program. As a privately funded organization, it is important that our administrative costs remain minimal to ensure that our funding sources are directed to patient care. If you cannot afford the training program fee, you may apply for a scholarship. You can pay your training fees online.
Please contact Kelly Tondini, Manager of Clinic Resources and Volunteer Services at 773.969.5923 or ktondini@communityhealth.org with any questions.

He volunteers weekly and has now learned enough Spanish to call English and Spanish patients for appointment confirmations, etc. We also recognized in January, Lawrence Gott, M.D. as the Volunteer Provider of the Month. Dr. Gott has been a volunteer urologist since July 2011 and, over the past several months, his committment has helped to lower our waiting list in this specialty area. Dr. Gott has also been very helpful in working with outside referral partners for this service. On behalf of the patients that we are privileged to serve, we say thank you!
