Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at CommunityHealth. It is a rewarding experience that allows you to have a profound impact upon people’s health and quality of life. Many of our volunteers have been with us for years. Our volunteer providers, in particular, welcome the opportunity to practice in such a patient-focused environment.

There are a variety of ways to volunteer at CommunityHealth and volunteers are welcome at both our West Town health center at 2611 W. Chicago Ave., and our Englewood satellite at 641 W. 63rd St. No matter what your background or volunteer interest, all donated services and time are greatly appreciated.

Medical Professional Volunteer Opportunities
CommunityHealth offers volunteer providers a patient-centered environment and rewarding practice setting with no insurance forms or claims to file. Through our regular primary care clinics, disease management program and 23 specialty services, volunteer nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and physicians meet a variety of patient needs. Scheduling is flexible and providers can commit to as little as one 4-hour shift a month.  The Illinois Good Samaritan Act provides liability protection.

Currently, we are in particular need of the following specialists: Dentists, Dermatologists, Ophthalmologists, Optometrists, Physical Therapists, Podiatrists, Primary Care Providers (MD, DO, PA, NP), Rheumatologists and Ultrasound Technicians.

Clinic (Non-Medical) Volunteer Opportunities
Support volunteers are essential to clinic operations. Front-desk volunteers, triage volunteers, interpreters and health educators are just a few of the opportunities available. Interested individuals are asked to make a time commitment of two, four-hour shifts per month for one year. Scheduling is flexible.

Because a large percentage of our patient population is Spanish-speaking and nearly 20 percent is Polish-speaking, we have a particular need for interpreters.
