Volunteer Opportunities

As a volunteer-based organization, the recruitment, training and retention of volunteers are essential to our ability to provide free, quality health care. We currently have over 700 volunteers, including more than 400 volunteer medical providers. In 2009, these volunteers donated more than 50,000 hours to the health center. In addition to our current site in West Town which serves over 8,000 patients each year, CommunityHealth will be opening new doors in a new community in late summer 2010 — opening a satellite site in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood. Just as volunteers, both providers and clinic positions, are the lifeblood at our current facility, so will they be at our new location.

Please find complete details on volunteer opportunities available at both CommunityHealth locations below.

Englewood:

Clinic Volunteers and Medical Professionals

**We also offer a variety of behind-the-scenes volunteer opportunities on board committees. These important positions allow volunteers to donate their professional skills and personal expertise to further the CommunityHealth mission.

Volunteer Trainings

There is fee for the following volunteer trainings: triage, lab, pharmacy technician and diabetes educator. (Currently the interpreter training program is being reformatted; participants will not be charged until further notice.) This is a one-time $25 fee per training program. The purpose of this fee is to offset training program expenses–including training materials and administrative costs. Volunteers must pay fees prior to enrolling in a training program. You must have completed volunteer orientation before you can enroll in training courses.

Volunteer Training Fee FAQS

*Payments can be made by check (made out to CommunityHealth) or by credit card.
