Volunteer FAQs

Volunteer makes patient phone calls

Why is CommunityHealth now charging for volunteer training programs?

After lengthy analysis of our volunteer training programs, we found that instituting a small fee for each training program would offset the expenses for these programs. As aprivately funded organization, it is important that our administrative costs remain minimal to ensure that our funding sources are directed to patient care.

I am not able to afford the training program fee, am I still able to volunteer?

CommunityHealth will have a process by which volunteers may apply for a scholarship to cover the training fee. In addition, CommunityHealth does offer other volunteer opportunities that do not require training. These opportunities include: administrative assistance, front desk assistance, intake assistance, referral assistance, women’s health assistance, health education instructors (exercise, smoking cessation, yoga, healthy mind and body), health fair assistants and the Young Professionals Committee. Please contact Kelly Tondini for more information.

If I have already participated in a volunteer training program, do I have to pay the fee to continue volunteering?

Current volunteers will not be charged the training fee for trainings they have already participated in. However, if a current volunteer would like to participate in further training programs the training fee will apply.

Please contact Kelly Tondini, Volunteer Services Coordinator, with any questions.
